FRANKFORT CAR CLUB MINUTES FOR FEBRUARY 13TH, 2008

Submitted by Gayle Lukso

The president, Larry Claypool, called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM.  He asked if all members had received their February newsletter.  They had.  He then asked if there were any new members attending their first club meeting. There were no new members in attendance.  Larry asked for a motion to accept the January minutes.  A motion to accept the minutes as printed was made by Chuck VanderVelde and seconded by Rich Plummer.  The minutes for the January meeting were accepted as printed.

Due to the absence of our treasurer, Dave Hecker, Larry Claypool gave a brief treasurer’s report.  The club’s treasury balance is $3,059.54.  This balance reflects a check written to Camp Quality for $750.

OLD BUSINESS:

Jerry Warning reported that he had stopped in at Jenny’s restaurant to inquire about costs and dates for our annual Christmas party.  He was told that every Sunday in December is open for their rooms.  The members present voted to hold the Xmas party at Jenny’s restaurant on Sunday, December l4th.  Jerry said a family style menu is available for $19.95.  This includes fried or broiled chicken, roast beef, salad, dessert and a two hour open bar. It is also possible to order other entrees such as prime rib, Tilapia, or filet mignon.  These entrees are more expensive and the two hour bar would be an additional $12.95/person.  Jerry agreed to return to the restaurant to explore more options on the food pricing and the cost of the open bar for non-alcoholic drinkers.

Larry Claypool reported that Villa Rosa is under new management.  He will have to notify the members whether or not the dinning room will be available for the next movie night.(Ed.note- the dining room is now operational)

Chuck VanderVelde had brought up at the last meeting that the club needed to make better use of its website.  At the meeting of the cruise night committee held at Chuck’s, it was decided that all changes should be given to the webmaster at one time.  Send any information on changes on cars or new events to Larry Claypool or Dave Hecker.  Chuck VanderVelde also volunteered to take pictures or scan pictures of members’ cars to include on the website.

Larry Claypool reminded people that if they have not paid their club dues for 2008, there is a “07” on the mailing address of the newsletter.

NEW BUSINES:

Larry Claypool reported on two events that the club has been asked to participate in.  One is a parade on July 4th in Oak Lawn.  A show of hands determined that no members were interested in participating.  The second event is a display of cars on a 50”s Night on Saturday, May 24th, in Joliet.  The cars would be on display on the street in front of the Jackhammer ball park from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.  Questions were raised by the membership concerning the respect shown to the cars, as people that would be coming to that event are not necessarily ‘car’ careful. Ray Garritano volunteered that if the club decided to do this event, he would contact his friend who is the chief of police in Joliet.

Larry Claypool reported that the show committee meeting at Chuck VanderVeld’s decided that the order of the featured cars would be changed a bit to accommodate the race car night.  They want it to be the same weekend as NASCAR weekend in Joliet.  It was also determined that the scooter night should be designated as “vintage scooter” night to emphasize that it is not intended to be a showcase for brand new machines.

Jerry Warning added that the village would like to see our cruise night list.  They want to see if they can print the names of the donors on the back side.

Jerry Warning motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:35.  Rich Plummer seconded.

The meeting was adjourned to enjoy the treats provided by Chuck Commerford.
